The marketing material project was quite the difficult one mostly because of our task. For one we went about it the wrong way. We kept trying to schedule something that honestly couldn’t really be schedules. Interviewing refugees is just not something you really schedule because of the random nature that refugees come into the office. We kept trying to schedule until the point the project due date had to moved. Kathy then came up with the idea to just come to NICE for a period of time and just ask the refugees that happen to come in that day are open to an interview. We managed to find someone and we interviewed her and took her picture but there were some things we didn’t think about. Me and Anna interviewed Amadar Othman at NICE who is a refugee from northern Iraq. We were limited on the question we could ask because a good number of the refugees have had traumatic experiences and asking personal questions could risk causing them to shut down. So instead we left it up to the refugees themselves if they wanted to get personal. That is something we should have considered because since we didn’t we only five questions to ask.

The pages themselves would be simple; they would contain the refugee’s story with a picture of them for reference. Our story pages will then be inserted into the overall design of the NICE website. For me and Anna our interview was short so our refugee profile is pretty short but it turned out well. Then we were going to interview a second person so Kathy gave us directions to an apartment complex to do it. Anna and I went to the complex and waited we knew something was wrong when Kathy wasn’t showing up. We figured that Kathy must have gone in the other entrance. Unfortunately I had to get to class so Anna had to find them by herself which in the end she was unable. So we only had the one short interview with Amadar. Paxton and Tyler’s profile also had a bit of trouble. Before Paxton and Tyler could write the profile for their refugee, Paxton’s phone died. Unfortunately it took until after the weekend to get his phone fixed, but the interview recording did survive. So we managed to finish the project. We also rated each other performances on the project. I gave everyone top ranks except for myself because of my absences. But at least the project turned out well and it looks really good and I hope Kathy likes them
