This was a weird project for multiple reasons. For one I thought a group of five was too much for a project this straight forward. It ended up making it hard to divide up work because there was not much work. This really only required a two person group, so the students divide the first draft of the grant and then for the final draft the two students divide corrections. I would recommend for next semester making these groups smaller. The second reason this was strange was because the grant weren’t readily available some of us really had to dig to get those grants. The third and maybe this is because I don’t truly understand it this just seemed like a glorified fill-out form. Really the only sections that required much work were the few sections describing your organization and how your organization would be helped by their aide. The rest was just simple fill in the blanks with information. For the financial stuff you may have had to look a little, but since that stuff is usually on the organizations web site this isn’t very difficult. You might have to call the organization and the donor for certain information, government information and donor employee information. I just don’t think a five person group was necessary for this.

For ours we did caterpillar and I think we did a pretty decent job. Caterpillar is big on boosting communities and helping the unfortunate and not really immigration. So the way we did it was their money wouldn’t be helping immigration, travel, or planting people, but instead towards improving communities that immigrants live in. This would be done through funding the English teaching program which in turn helps the refugees learn English. By doing this the refugees can get jobs and by being able to work the refugees gain income thus building up their lives and in the end improving the community. This falls perfectly under caterpillar’s building communities and helping the unfortunate goals. That is one thing you can do with grants. If your donor doesn’t specifically fund what you do, word it in such a way that it does fall in line with them. We don’t do specifically what you usually fund but if you fund us the effects will be what you usually fund. So I believe our grant did great in that department. All the other standard information seems to be filled out correctly. So when we send to NICE for approval I think they will be happy with our work.
