Sound Exercise #1: Record a Persuasive Audio Narrative

For your first sound exercise, you will be recording and mixing a persuasive audio narrative that uses the persuasive techniques of oral persuasion. The content of the story is up to you, but your aim should be to use the story to teach a greater lesson (think about the evacuation plan we devised in class). The audio file should be between 4-6 minutes, and you should export your mix into an MP3 or WAV file.

In addition to the audio content of the narrative, you should also provide a 500-word reflection that details the specific topoi (rhetorical figures) characteristic of oral language that you used in your narrative to draw attention to form and information. The best Sound Exercise analyses quote from and join the conversation of the readings from this semester (Burke, Havelock, Homer) to explain how the audio narrative uses the principles we've discussed. Citing and quoting from these sources, work to explain why you chose your specific story and explain what purpose you hope the narrative will serve. In other words, how will this persuade and what does it persuade someone to think/do?
