Video
For this project, you will create a 1-2 minute time-based video that uses image and sound to create a short documentary profile of a person, place, thing, animal, etc. As a part of this project, you will create a storyboard (due for the workshop on October 2nd), and your final video should be edited in iMovie (or equivalent editing program) and uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo. Because this project is condensed into 2 weeks, you are not required to shoot video unless you want to, but you will need to create a text that has images and sound (essentially an elaborate slide show).
Your time-based project must meet the following requirements:
· between 1-2 minutes long
· include images (still or moving) and sound (music or voiceover or both)
· at least one image (maybe the title screen) should be manipulated in Photoshop
· attention to design elements we discussed
· assets are cited in credits
· exported to YouTube or Vimeo and embedded in a blog post (note: music must be original or copyright free for these sites to host your work)
Presentation
In addition, you must also present your project to the class. The presentation will include a showing of your video, and then an additional 1-2 minutes to explain to us your design choices. The video + presentation must be between 3-4 minutes. Your presentation must include the following:
· Design Strategy Analysis: Describe what design strategies (Camera shots, lighting, linearity, movement, color, etc.) you used in your time-based project, and explain how these relate to your rhetorical situation. You are essentially rhetorically analyzing your project for us.
· Visual Aid: Create a PowerPoint slide show to accompany your presentation. One slide must include a link to your video (which will be housed on YouTube or Vimeo). The remaining slides should help you perform the design strategy analysis. Consider taking screen shots of your video to highlight certain strategies.
